Here's how I installed miui on my phone:
1. download the ROM to your PC
2. Move the file to the root of your SD card
3. Boot your phone into Xrecovery or CWM
4. Make a nandroid backup
5. Do a factory reset, wipe cache partition & dalvik cache
6. select 'install custom zip from sdcard' and select the ROM .zip file on your SD card.
7. After it finished installing select 'Reboot phone'.
Ps: Just restore the Nandroid backup you made if there's any problem(bootloop, stuck on bootscreen, etc) after you flashed the ROM.
Like I said before, you can't install all ROM the same way. Randomly installing a ROM will only brick your phone, so don't say I didn't warn you
